If you weren't already aware, Led Zeppelin is arguably one of the greatest bands of all time. My bedroom is decked out in Zep posters and I have an irrational nostalgia for the time that they ruled the radio and that I never even existed in. I was unfortunately born in '92 so aside from watching The Song Remains the Same on YouTube, I'll never get to see Zeppelin live :(
SOO my way around this sad sad truth is going to see ZOSO every time they come to Baton Rouge. ZOSO is an AMAZING Led Zeppelin tribute band, and they take their performances extremely seriously. Fake Jimmy, John, Robert and John take the stage in full dress and they even emulate the real deal with corresponding mannerisms when performing. It's not easy to mimic the best band of all time- so I say this with complete confidence that these guys are easily as good as Zeppelin or better (remember they have dedicated their life to perfecting music that Zeppelin only had about a decade to create)
I've only photographed these guys twice, but in doing so I always try to embrace the aesthetic of the time when editing. My justification for never getting to see or photograph Zeppelin is getting to see and photograph ZOSO.... and edit the photos to look as similarly to film from the 70's as possible. Actually that's the general ruling for everything I do because I'm obsessed with the old school aesthetic of the 60's-70's (Wow could you tell? It's not like I made a whole blog devoted to that or anything...)
If you ever have the chance to see ZOSO (and I'm sure you will because they are literally touring constantly) you should most definitely buy a ticket and go. After a few songs you are so immersed that you forget it's 2016. They are surely a tribute band to be reckoned with.
